All That Jazz! Celebrates 15th Season Festivities: The Salsa
Band to Open
This
year Dubuque Main Street Ltd. celebrates the 15th Season of the beloved
Dubuque…And All That Jazz! free summer
concert series with a slate of activities.
Orquesta
Alto Maiz, known to their dedicated fans as “Iowa’s
own Salsa Band” will open the season on Friday, June 16 under
the Town Clock, at 7th and Main Street from 5 to 9 p.m. A fusion
of Latin musical
styles, including merengue, samba, cha-cha, calypso and boleros,
the eleven-piece band will also be celebrating their 15th performance
at Dubuque…And
All That Jazz! The band is one of the most recorded in the All
That Jazz series, having released six albums. “The Salsa
Band ” is
celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year.
In
celebration of the 15th Season of Dubuque…and All That Jazz!,
free swing dancing lessons will be offered for all ages, under
the Town Clock by Brian Imbus and Pete Kenyon from 5 to5:50 p.m.
The
Salsa Band
will play from 6 to 9 p.m. Dubuque County Fair Association will
announce their eight candidates for Fair Queen at band intermission
at 7:30
p.m.
Dubuque
Main Street will also be selling T-shirts and limited edition prints
(created by award-winning artist, Michael Schmalz
of Refinery
Design Co.)
showcasing the 2006 Jazz logo during the event.
Delicious
food and ice-cold beverages will be available starting at 5 p.m.

vendors include Athenian Grill, A Little Taste
of Philly, Bricktown,
Carlos O’Kelly’s, Choo Choo Charlie’s,
Cold Stone Creamery, Fat Tuesday’s, House of China,
Jan’s
Grate Shop, the Morning Optimists, Sugar Ray’s Barbecue,
Salsa’s Mexican Restaurant,
the Town Clock Inn, the Taters Booth. The Dubuque Jaycees
will provide the beverages.

Cebar and Milwaukeeans, Studebaker
John, and Three Beers ‘Til Dubuque.
